Medicare Enrollment Assistance in Northwest Arkansas — Done Right the First Time
Turning 65, retiring, or leaving employer coverage? Eric Feltner walks you through every deadline, form, and decision so you enroll on time, penalty-free, and in the right plan the first time.
Independent agent · No cost to you · Licensed in 12 states
Medicare enrollment is a sequence of dated decisions, and the government does not send reminders. Miss a window and the penalty follows you for life — 10% added to your Part B premium for every 12 months you were eligible and not enrolled, plus a separate lifetime surcharge on Part D.
Medicare enrollment assistance in Northwest Arkansas is about protecting you from those traps. Eric maps your exact timeline, tells you what to file and when, and completes the enrollment with you rather than leaving you alone with a government portal.
There's no charge for any of it.
Problems We Solve
What usually goes wrong — and how we prevent it
You're not sure which enrollment period applies to you
Initial, General, Annual, Open, or Special — each has different dates and different consequences. Eric identifies yours in one conversation and puts the dates in writing.
You're retiring mid-year and losing group coverage
Employer coverage ending creates a Special Enrollment Period with a hard clock. Start too late and you face a gap in coverage plus penalties. Eric coordinates the handoff so coverage begins the day the old plan ends.
You're on COBRA and assumed you were covered
COBRA is not considered creditable coverage for Medicare Part B. This single misunderstanding causes more penalties than any other, and it's entirely avoidable with one phone call.
The Social Security and CMS paperwork stalled
Forms CMS-40B and CMS-L564 need employer signatures and correct dates. Eric knows what these agencies reject and why, and helps you submit clean the first time.
You enrolled online and picked the wrong plan
Self-enrollment through a generic website often lands people in plans their doctors don't accept. If you're inside a valid change window, Eric can help you correct it.
How It Works
A clear process, start to finish
Step one is a timeline. Eric confirms your Medicare eligibility date, your current coverage status, and any employer or spousal coverage in play, then produces the exact list of dates that apply to you.
Step two is the plan decision — Advantage, Supplement, and Part D compared against your doctors and prescriptions, as described on our Medicare plans page.
Step three is filing. Part A and Part B applications, creditable-coverage documentation, and your plan enrollment are completed together, with confirmation numbers recorded. You get a copy of everything, and Eric follows up until ID cards arrive.
Penalty protection
Every deadline that could cost you money is identified and calendared before it becomes a problem.
No coverage gaps
Effective dates are coordinated so your new plan starts the moment your old coverage ends.
Paperwork handled with you
Forms completed together, correctly, with the employer documentation Social Security actually requires.
One point of contact
Questions after enrollment go to Eric, not to a 40-minute hold queue.
Working past 65 guidance
HSA contributions, group plan size rules, and Part B delay strategy explained before you commit.
Free, start to finish
Enrollment assistance never costs you anything and never changes your premium.

What's Covered
Your options, explained in plain English
Initial Enrollment Period (turning 65)
Seven months centered on your birthday month. Enrolling in the first three months means coverage starts the month you turn 65.
Special Enrollment Periods
Triggered by retirement, loss of employer coverage, moving out of a plan's service area, or qualifying for Extra Help. Windows are short and strictly enforced.
Annual Enrollment Period (Oct 15 – Dec 7)
Your yearly chance to change Advantage or Part D plans for a January 1 start. This is when most avoidable overpayment gets corrected.
Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment (Jan 1 – Mar 31)
A one-time switch window for anyone already on an Advantage plan who realized in January that it isn't working.
Local Coverage
Serving All of Northwest Arkansas
Eric provides Medicare enrollment assistance throughout Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, Bentonville, Huntsville, Berryville, and Harrison, in person or by phone, whichever you prefer.
Northwest Arkansas has a large population of retirees from Walmart suppliers, the University of Arkansas, and regional healthcare systems — each with different retiree coverage rules that interact with Medicare differently. Knowing how those group plans coordinate with Part B is exactly the kind of local detail that keeps clients out of penalty territory.
FAQs
Medicare Enrollment Help questions, answered
When should I start the Medicare enrollment process?+
Three to six months before your 65th birthday, or as soon as you know your retirement date. Starting early costs nothing and leaves room to fix problems with Social Security paperwork before the deadline.
Do I have to enroll in Medicare at 65 if I'm still working?+
Not always. If your employer has 20 or more employees and you have creditable group coverage, you can usually delay Part B without penalty. Smaller employers, retiree plans, and COBRA follow different rules. Confirm your situation before you decide — call (870) 280-8753.
What is the Medicare Part B late enrollment penalty?+
Ten percent added to your Part B premium for each full 12-month period you were eligible but not enrolled, and you pay it for as long as you have Part B. Part D carries its own lifetime surcharge based on months without creditable drug coverage.
Is COBRA creditable coverage for Medicare?+
No. COBRA does not protect you from the Part B late enrollment penalty. If you're on COBRA and approaching 65, this is urgent — get advice immediately.
How long does Medicare enrollment take?+
The plan selection conversation typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. Enrollment submission takes minutes. Social Security processing for Part A and B can take a few weeks, which is why starting early matters.
Can you help me if I already made a mistake?+
Often, yes. Depending on the error and your current window, corrections are frequently possible through a Special Enrollment Period, the Annual Enrollment Period, or Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment. Call and let's look at your options.
Do I enroll in Medicare through you or through Social Security?+
Part A and Part B enrollment goes through Social Security; Eric guides you through that process. Your Advantage, Supplement, or Part D plan is enrolled directly with the carrier through Eric or the secure enrollment link.
